About the practice
Jonathan Steyn provides independent, non-advisory paralegal services on a contractual, case-by-case and freelance basis. Work for attorneys is performed to instruction and remains subject to the instructing legal practitioner’s professional review, approval and signature where required.
For members of the public, the focus is on permissible administrative assistance, public-procedure support, document organisation, factual correspondence, mediation support and referral when a matter requires legal advice, reserved legal work or court representation.

Administrative assistance with official domestic-violence and harassment forms, client-dictated factual information, evidence organisation and court-process preparation. No legal advice or courtroom representation.

Service beyond the practice
I also serve as a director at the Purple Butterfly Foundation, with a special focus on family-law-related support, domestic-violence victims, vulnerable families and practical administrative guidance. My role is community and paralegal support; matters requiring legal advice or representation are referred to admitted legal practitioners.

I am also a director at Hackabby and have a strong passion for cybersecurity and the developing law around cybercrime, digital evidence and digital forensics. My technical background helps me understand how systems, logs, incidents and electronic evidence can intersect with legal and investigative processes.

I am currently studying toward a BCom Law and intend to progress to and complete the LLB as part of my path toward formal legal qualification. The present practice is deliberately positioned as paralegal and technical-support work — not as an attorney’s practice.
South African law reserves certain work and appearances to admitted legal practitioners. The website therefore separates attorney-instructed support, public administrative assistance, and technical forensic services, and it uses explicit referral triggers for work outside that scope.
